We hope you can join us, Thursday, August 22,<\/strong> for an outing to the MWRA Pellet Plant (located at the Fore River Shipyard & operated by NEFCO) followed by a visit to the Nut Island Headworks.<\/p>\n

In addition to touring these facilities, the route will take us by Moakley Park. There will be an onboard presentation about recent site work performed by the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), as well as the MWRA wastewater systems adjacent (Columbus Park Headworks) and within and beneath the park (South Boston CSO Storage Tunnel & Relief Valve).<\/p>\n

Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP by August 13th using the form below.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Itinerary<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • 8:00 AM – check-in (coffee and refreshments provided)<\/li>\n
  • 8:30 AM – bus departs Chelsea (2 Griffin Way) PROMPTLY\u00a0<\/strong>at 8:30
    \n(self-drivers can meet tour at the Pellet Facility at 9:30 AM)<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Bus ride to the MWRA Pellet Plant with podcasts<\/li>\n
  • 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM – Tour the Pellet Facility, Fore River Shipyard (551 South Street, Quincy)<\/li>\n
  • Bus ride to Nut Island Headworks (147 Sea Ave, Quincy) with podcasts<\/li>\n
  • 11:30 – 12:30 PM – Tour Nut Island Headworks<\/li>\n
  • 12:30 PM – lunch at Nut Island<\/li>\n
  • Bus leaves Nut Island at 2:30 PM, returning to Chelsea at approximately 3:30 PM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
